We want our articles to be accurate and fair. Because Now Discussing summarises fast-moving public conversation with the help of AI, mistakes and outdated details will sometimes happen. This page explains how we handle them.
The 24-hour review
About 24 hours after an article is published, it is reviewed again. The review looks at whether the summary still reflects the discussion and its sources, whether anything has turned out to be wrong, and whether important new information has come out. We may also review an article at other times, for example after a reader report.
How notices appear
When we change an article in a way that matters to readers, we add a notice at the top of the article, above the main text. Each notice has a label and a date in UTC, for example “Correction (September 25, 2026, UTC): …” The labels are:
- Update: the story has developed or new information is available. The original content was not necessarily wrong.
- Correction: the article contained an error, such as a wrong fact, name, number or attribution, and we have fixed it. The notice says what was corrected.
- Retraction: the article was fundamentally wrong or misleading and should not be relied on. The notice explains why. We may keep a short retraction notice in place of the article, or remove the article entirely where that is more appropriate.
We don’t silently change meaning
We do not quietly change the meaning of an article after it is published. Small fixes that do not change the meaning, such as typos, formatting or broken links, may be made without a notice. Any change to facts, claims, attribution or conclusions gets a visible notice.
Removal requests
We will consider removing or editing content when there is a legitimate reason. Examples include serious inaccuracy, personal or private information that should not be public, content that could put someone at risk, a person who was mistakenly identified, or a valid legal request. We review each request individually and may not be able to grant every one.
How to report a problem
If you spot an error or want to request a change or removal, please contact us. Include the link to the article, what you believe is wrong, and any sources that support your report. We will review it and, where appropriate, update the article and add a notice at the top.
